Overview
Neon Blur is race track I designed in the gravity defying Rocket Racing game mode in Fortnite. Speed through a cyber city feeling the velocity as the lights of the neon signs race past you. Using this project I was able to study into track design both realistic and arcade to find out the differences and to see where I could combine the two design philosophies.
Project Purpose: University Project
Time Taken: 4 weeks
Design Goals
Create a fast paced and intuitive track
Utilise the drifting and boosting mechanics of Rocket racing
Utilise the pre-made mechanics such as the boost pads
Make use of the anti-gravity mechanics
Design a fun arcade style track that stays consistently engaging
Make use of points of interest to make it easy for the player to know where they are on the track
Create a good sense of speed
Make use of needle threading to empower the player
